Family-owned bakery brings custom cakes, specialty desserts, and fresh energy to Market Street ahead of Memorial Day weekend festivities

Sunbury’s Revitalization, Inc. (SRI) is excited to welcome Sweet Beaters Bakery, LLC to Downtown Sunbury as a new addition to the city’s growing small business community. Located at 356 Market Street, Sweet Beaters Bakery will officially celebrate its grand opening on Friday at 9:00 AM, kicking off Memorial Day weekend in Sunbury. Owned and operated by local baker Kim Deska, Sweet Beaters Bakery offers specialty cupcakes, custom cakes, cookies, and a variety of homemade baked goods. Weekly cupcake flavors, custom desserts, and decorated sugar cookies will all be part of the bakery’s offerings as Kim brings her passion for baking and creativity to downtown.

Kim’s journey into baking began as a hobby and slowly grew into a business through years of encouragement from family, friends, and customers. Combining her artistic background in graphic design with cake decorating, Kim transformed baking into a creative outlet and eventually into a full-time career. After years of operating from home kitchens that she continually outgrew, Kim and her husband, Dwayne, searched for the perfect storefront and chose Sunbury because of its strong sense of community, affordability, and central location within the region.

“I chose Sunbury because it felt like the right place to grow,” said Kim Deska, owner of Sweet Beaters Bakery. “I grew up around Sunbury and always believed it could be a great place for a bakery. The support and excitement from the community has been overwhelming, and I’m so excited to finally open the doors.”

The grand opening celebration on Friday will include free samples such as mini cupcakes and brownie bites, along with raffles featuring a custom cake gift certificate valued at $65 and a dozen custom decorated sugar cookies.

SRI says the opening represents another positive step forward for Downtown Sunbury and reflects the continued momentum of new business investment throughout the district.

“Small businesses like Sweet Beaters Bakery are exactly what helps create an active and welcoming downtown,” said Sarah Bower, Downtown Manager for Sunbury Revitalization, Inc. “Kim’s story, creativity, and dedication are inspiring, and we are excited to see both residents and visitors support this new business as we head into Memorial Day weekend.”

Community members are encouraged to stop by the bakery during the grand opening festivities beginning Friday, May 22nd at 9:00 AM at 356 Market Street in Downtown Sunbury.
